Hunter X Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I spend $349 on Hunter X when I can get a bottle of spray for less than $20?
There are a lot of different scent sprays- some kill bacteria, some are used as cover scents, and some even spray carbon. These products all work very well. But with the Hunter X you are destroying the bacteria and odors in every piece of fiber inside and out of your clothing, it is getting deep down inside every square inch of your boots, and not to mention your bow, gun, ground blind, backpack, hats, gloves and especially your camera gear (which you should not spray with anything) It would take a gallon of spray to do what Hunter X can do in a 1 hour decontamination mode. Also, since Hunter X operates 24/7, how much would you have to invest in $20 bottles of spray to provide continuous protection? Sprays wear off and must be reapplied. Hunter X is ALWAYS at work and the cost is a one time investment.
How do I use it?
Create a “decontamination chamber” with a closet, ground blind, cab of your truck, small room or any small enclosed space. Place all of your gear inside with the Hunter X, turn it on “decontamination mode” for a few hours and you’re ready to hunt- scent free. Forget about getting up in a rush and spraying everything down with scent sprays. Just get up, grab your gear and go! The Hunter X will run continuously on a lower setting- you put it in “decontamination mode” by pushing a button and it will run in that mode for 1-3 hours and then will reset itself to the lower mode to help keep any new odors from contaminating your gear. A suggestion would be to wear one set of clothing to the field and have another set decontaminating in the chamber for the evening hunt. Hunter X is 12V adaptable, too.
How big is it?
Hunter X is 6.5” wide, 6.5” high, 7” deep and weighs only 2 pounds.
What if I don’t have a closet or a receptacle in my closet?
Portable closets can be found at most of your larger hardware and discount stores for around $30.00 and with a small extension cord, your problem is solved. These can also be used in hotel rooms, hunting lodges, etc…
How does it work?
The technology inside Hunter X is using a combination of ozone and RCI making it 40 times more powerful than ozone alone but at a safe level. This means that RCI with an ozone content of .002 ppm (parts per million) is 40 times more effective than ozone alone at .002 ppm. Not a scientist? Well, it’s easy- Hunter X is duplicating Mother Nature’s process of cleaning the air. It’s like a thunderstorm in a box.
What is RCI?
RCI = Radiant Catalytic Ionization. RCI creates hydro peroxides, super oxide ions and safe oxidizers, reducing odors and airborne contaminants.
How long will this RCI technology last in the field?
This remains to be one of the toughest questions yet; who knows how long it takes for deer, elk, bear etc… to be able to detect your scent. The best way to answer this question is from testimonials we have received from people who have used the Hunter X. Here are just a few testimonials to give you an idea of how well Hunter X works:
“I used the product to purify my hunting clothing as well as my hunting partners’ to make the garments scent free. While bow hunting for elk I was able to call a nice bull in for my partner to within 30 yards. It should also be noted that there were cow and calf elk all around us and we were never winded. I think the product had a direct impact on that hunt. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to make their clothes scent free or remove odors from their home.” --Roger Fuller
"Hi Kippi, Just a line to let you know that my purifier that you had me test is still working great. I went spring bear hunting and I had ten different bears coming in and I was able to get within 20 yards of all of them. Didn’t shoot any. Was just looking and testing. I really love my unit, keep up the good work. Anyone who bow hunts should have one."

"I was a bit skeptical of the claims that have been made regarding this type of machine and decided to try the PurifyMyHunt system as the investment was less and seemed to cover a large variety of uses-should it not work the way I hoped with my hunts. Much to my surprise the unit excels- way beyond my expectations both in the woods and in my home. I’ve seen more deer and have them on top of me this season. It’s been so exciting! And my wife was keen on the purchase as the unit’s getting used in the home when not purifying my gear. To any skeptic, I’d say try it. You’ll find the results to the top of your expectations.
I think the thing rocks, personally. It’s really the honest truth. I’ve seen better deer and bigger deer and all within bow range (30 yards and under).
Good Luck Kippi!" --Jeff Hughes, Hughes Design LLC
How does Hunter X compare to the competitors and what kind of testing has been done on the technology?
The Technology used in the Hunter X has been proven to kill mold & mildew, viruses, salmonella, ecoli, dust & dust mites, avian bird flu, mrsa,
This technology has been with the company “EcoQuest International” for over 20 years! The main goal until now was to help people with allergies and asthma, bacteria, flu, viruses, germs, etc…. But never for hunting until now!!
The studies were conducted by institutes such as Kansas State University. All test results are available at www.activepure.com
This technology has “space certification” by NASA. Meaning that it is the same technology used to scrub the space shuttles.
This technology was used at the Pentagon after 9-11 for smoke damage.
The same technology that is in the Hunter X has earned the “seal-of-approval” from the North American Hunting Club. The rating earned by the Fresh Air was 9.5 (10 being the most possible).
Hunter X has been awarded a 9.0 rating from the North American Hunting Club!!
Can I use Hunter X for other odor problems?
Absolutely! Hunter X is being used to destroy odors from litter boxes, cooking odors, smoke in home and vehicles, chemical odors, pets, dirty diapers, urine, fishy smells, nasty boots, skunk, sweat, perfume, glue, taxidermy shops, mildew, new home, musty basement, dog bed, human odor, etc….
Will it take odors out of my carbon suit?
Yes, the technology in Hunter X is destroying odors and bacteria in every piece of fabric inside and out.
Carbon suit companies recommend placing the carbon suits in a dryer to get rid of the odors and then bagging them up to keep odors out. Carbon is like an odor magnet. The whole process seems very time consuming to me; you have to heat it up in a dryer, bag it up and keep track of the time you are wearing the suit and then heat it up in the dryer, bag it up and it goes on and on…
With the Hunter X system; you will be destroying any odors that have built up in the carbon suit every time you go hunting. Just place it in your closet or chamber with all your gear and the Hunter X running and everything is free of odor-causing bacteria.
Lets Compare the Two Technologies:
Much could be said about the two different technologies and their effectiveness in aiding the hunter to "Bag The Big One". The logical step would be to compare the level of penetration and effectiveness of the two technologies.
SPRAYS
A spray that comes in an aerosol or a pump does exactly that – it sprays. This either eliminates or covers up the scents. Common sense tells us that the spray will work better on an area that has a direct spray, so does this mean that the hunter has to wet every square inch of everything?
I would hate to think how much spray it would take to cover every boot, sock, pants, coat, hat, etc. And how long does the spray effect last? Only the “hunted” know for sure.
I have an old shotgun my father gave to me and I am very careful of finger prints and such on the metal parts, but I am against exposing it to any foreign liquids, so I just give it a good wipe down. I have a hunch there will be many hunters with the same opinion.
HUNTER X
Much could be said about the rather recent introduction of scent sprays and their marketing efforts. But first let’s address the history of the Hunter X product.
The Hunter X engineering/manufacturer has produced this same type of technology for 24 years, and I have been associated with it for nearly 14 years. Millions of various models with this technology have been sold and are still sought after today. Many of our earlier models are still in homes, offices and industries doing the same thing that we have always done - reduce odors. Anything from pets, people, paint, leather furniture, new carpet, cigarette smoke, house fires, mold odors... and the list goes on and on. One of our commercial machines that we have sold thousands of has a carbon filter in the middle of the machine with a unique design that allows it to self-clean or rejuvenate, just as the Hunter X, now is capable of.
On another note, this same company manufactures a water purifier that produces this same type of technology with a powerful UV light. This technology is mixed into the water and aids in reducing odors in the drinking water. We would sometimes have fun with demonstrating it if the homeowner had a dog or cat. We would fill up two bowls of water; one with tap water and the other with water from the purifier, and then put them side by side on the floor. The cat or dog would choose the purified water every time. Reducing odors in hunting clothes and equipment with the Hunter X is a rather new use for this technology, but an excellent choice.
The technology used in the Hunter X comes from nature. Remember the days when we used to hang our bed sheets on a clothesline? The clean fresh smell of them was almost intoxicating. It came from the fresh air scrubbing elements outside that are incorporated into the Hunter X.
Testing the Hunter X has shown that the fresh air scrubbing elements actually penetrate deeply into the fibers, eliminating chemical, organic and bacterial odors throughout. NOT a chemical cover-up, but an ELIMINATION of the odors.
Yes, sprays may be cheaper than the Hunter X initially, but in the long run I believe the Hunter X will come out more economical, more effective, longer-lasting and with much higher customer satisfaction.
If I were investing my time and efforts to hunt, I would want the best technology, with the longest history of proof on my side which is, without exception, the
